Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. Mahouts ensure elephants feed at the right times and don’t endanger anyone. The elephants are led to a nearby river for bathing daily from 10 am to noon and from 2 pm to 4 pm.
